Peter Danuser purchased the Herzog Mansion property in 1909, beginning a period of Danuser family ownership that continued until 1934. After Peter Danuser’s death, his will granted his widow, Louise Danuser, authority to manage and sell portions of his estate.
In 1934, Louise sold Lots 58 and 60, including the mansion. The east portion of Lot 62 was sold the following year, dividing the property into separate ownership lines that would remain apart for several decades. That portion of Lot 62 later came into the ownership of Ernest and Cora Treherne; Cora was the daughter of Peter and Louise Danuser, preserving a connection between part of the former estate and the Danuser family.
An important photographic record survives from the Danuser era. A collection dating to approximately 1926 includes verified photographs of Herzog Mansion and its grounds, along with a second group depicting members of the Danuser family. Some of the family photographs were taken away from the mansion, while the locations of others remain unidentified. Together, the collection provides a valuable glimpse into the property and the family associated with it during the early twentieth century.
